Language: Actionscript 3.0 (Flash), Coldfusion
Programmers : Daniel Zeligman and Josh Reed
This website was my fall-semester senior project as part of my Web Design and Development class at high school. My partner Josh and I decided to revamp the department website in a modern and appealing manner, while still maintaing the ability to dynamically update the content.
The site features fading between different scenes, a full administrative backend that is programmed using ColdFusion and other flash specific features.
This project was interesting in that it was my first real experience working with, and learning an unknown language and API. I had no prior experience developing in Actionscript to make outbound or inward calls to a server side scripting language. Through much research and trial and error, Josh and I were able to incorporate dynamic textboxes for the Student Work and News section. Their data is populated by calls to a database using ColdFusion. What this allowed was a visually appealing interface to advertise a 21st Century academic program that could still be updated on a daily basis through minor additions to a database.
